Happy Pi Day!

For Pi day, we made a camellia flower circle in our back yard in the rain. I attempted to explain pi to my preschooler.

We traced around the circle for the circumference and motioned across it for the diameter.

Then it was time to explain ratios. Hmm... we didn't quite get there before my guy got distracted by making sure we had pie for dessert tonight. Then, he insisted we change the shape to a triangle.

Well, at least now I know I could do to think about a good way to explain ratios eventually. And yes, we did have pie in honor of pi day :-)

What math resources do you refer to for teaching your little ones math? Do you follow a particular system? Do you incorporate technology (apps, software, etc.)?
